About Us
History
Our story starts way back.
CORE Support Services (formerly Kings Regional Rehabilitation Centre) first opened its doors in 1962. In 2025, the organization became CORE Support Services, reflecting more than a name change. It marked the evolution of the organization into a more focused community-based service provider, expanding supports both within the centre and throughout the community through outreach services. Today, CORE Support Services serves approximately 157 adults and youth.
More than 600 professional and support staff provide high-quality care, support, and services. All clients participate in an Individualized Program Plan (IPP), which identifies their unique strengths, needs, goals, and aspirations. This person-centred process helps ensure that programs and activities enhance independence, health, well-being, social connections, daily living skills, learning, and community participation.
From admission, throughout their stay while receiving care and accessing programs and services, and through transition and/or discharge, the focus remains client directed. Whether supported within the centre, which serves as home for many individuals, or in the community through small option homes, and outreach services, clients are empowered to make choices, pursue their goals, and direct their own journey. Their preferences, strengths, and aspirations guide planning, decision-making, and service delivery every step of the way.
Our objective is to support individuals in achieving their goals, maximizing their independence, and living meaningful lives as valued members of their communities. Through a range of supportive living, learning, social, and employment opportunities, clients are encouraged to develop their potential and participate fully in the environments of their choosing.
